A helping hand at the right time can turn a life around. Clare Kermond from The Age newspaper reports.
"There is a long pause as Mandy Sandford struggles to answer before laughing: "Well, she is never on time for anything, but she's always on time for me."
The "she" is 15 year old Kirsty, the girl Sandford mentors in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. For the past two years the pair have got together once a week on a Saturday."
